Industrial Safety Trainer
OVERVIEW:
Seeking to contract with a highly capable and motivated Industrial Safety Trainer to deliver high-quality safety training courses at our laboratory facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting hands-on and theoretical safety training sessions to lab personnel, and ensuring they are well-versed in industrial safety practices, regulatory requirements and best practices for a safe working environment.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administer existing safety training sessions tailored to laboratory staff, focusing on industrial safety protocols, hazard recognition, emergency response, and the proper use of safety equipment. Example equipment training will be on includes forklift, lockout / tagout processes, and potentially electrical work.
- Create and update training materials and documentation, ensuring they align with current industry standards and regulatory guidelines (e.g., OSHA, ANSI) as needed.
- Lead classroom and hands-on demonstrations, ensuring participants gain practical knowledge and experience.
- Assess the effectiveness of training programs and provide feedback to participants for continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards by reviewing lab safety protocols and making necessary recommendations.
- Maintain accurate records of training sessions, attendance, and certification completion following the training procedures and processes.
- Collaborate with lab managers and safety officers to identify areas of improvement and develop additional training needs as required.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in safety regulations and safety technology to ensure training materials remain relevant and effective.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Associates degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum five (5) years of office or LMS administrator experience within a regulated industry preferred.
- Proven experience in industrial safety training, with a deep understanding of safety protocols, equipment, and emergency procedures in laboratory environments.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and standards, such as OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, and EPA.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively train and engage a diverse group of learners.
- Ability to translate complex safety concepts into clear, understandable instructions.
- Certification in industrial safety training or relevant safety fields (e.g., OSHA Trainer Certification, First Aid/CPR, etc.).
- Prior experience in a laboratory or industrial setting is preferred.
- Strong communication skills desired.
- The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect, and a desire to foster teamwork.
- Actual position starting level and title will be determined based on assessment of qualifications.
- Previous experience working as a contractor or instructor in an industrial or laboratory environment.
- Knowledge of current safety training technologies (e.g., virtual training, interactive safety simulations).
- Ability to develop custom training programs based on specific client needs.
