Talascend is seeking a professional, skilled individual for our Quality Control Specialist position located in Havre de Grace, MD. 

GENERAL PURPOSE:
Assists interim Quality Manager at the HDG plant on all aspects of Quality Management System, in alignment with client's Global Quality Processes, including the maintenance of an auditable Quality System according to ISO-9001, GFSI certifications (Food Safety) and any other regulated industry certification. Ensure quality of services and products by utilizing risk assessment principles to improve processes. Assists with the management of the Quality Control lab to assure that process control and customer requirements are met on a timely basis.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Quality Assurance
  • Improves the local Quality Management System, in alignment with client's Global Quality Processes, including the maintenance of an auditable Quality System according to ISO-9001, GFSI certifications (Food Safety) and any other regulated industry certification.
  • Tracks goals and key performance indicators for the group in alignment with Q Global Targets, report Quality Metrics and monitor measured improvement. Conduct annual Management Review.
  • Assists with preparation and conducting of all site audits, including customer audits, certification audits, Technical Visits and Regulatory Inspections. Develop, maintain and conduct internal audits. Manage timely response and follow up on corrective actions for findings to maintain compliance.
  • Assists with Supplier Qualification and monitor supplier performance/audit program, addressing non-conformances related to raw materials or services.
  • Ensure adherence to Management of Change process and advise plant management team on MOCs impacting Quality and Regulated Products
Quality Control
  • Assists in managing the Quality Control Lab and coordinate day to day laboratory activities ensuring proper test methods in alignment with Global and Regional Reference labs guidance for testing on raw materials, in-process and environmental samples and final products.
  • Monitor production process, product quality and serve as final release authority for any atypical events or results. Ensure appropriately rigorous processes are established for OOS investigations and product release in timely matter.
  • Review SPC data as part of day-to-day operations support and when investigating product quality issues. Work with Production and process engineer to ensure appropriate application of statistical tools for process control.
Industry-specific Programs
  • Involved with HACCP Team and Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI). Monitor and maintain Food Safety / GMP programs at HDG plant, in conjunction with site level management providing support and direction for risk assessment, FMEA and implementation of preventative control programs, aiming compliance to regulatory, certification, and  requirements.
  • Involved with and documents Mock Recalls and ensure site level GMP inspection programs conform.
  • Coordinate the adequacy of products, labels and certificates of analysis in compliance with legal and customer requirements. Obtain and maintain all industry-specific licenses and permits required for facility operation.
  • Participate in the development of new products and processes, trials run and technology transfers, assuring proper Product Qualification Frequency

STRATEGIC FOCUS:
  • Ensure that HdG QMS maintains ISO 9001, BRC, applicable Regulated Industry certifications (Kosher. Halal) and IPEC GMP.
  • Drive continuous improvement and efficiency of Quality, Food Safety and IPEC GMP Programs.
  • Ensure that cost of quality losses is reduced and preventative measures with continuous improvement processes function to increase internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Adheres to all safety, health and environmental policies and procedures, follows SOPs, cGMPs, and regulatory guidelines, and proposes and contributes to the continuous improvement of safety and quality standards.
