Our History
Talascend’s story dates back to 1946 when the roots of the organization were planted upon the establishment of one company called Modern Engineering (ME). ME opened their doors in the hub of the Automotive Industry (just outside of Detroit, Michigan) to serve as an outsourced engineering and design company. As the company grew, the realization of ... “the key to any business success is their people” ... became prevalent and the company’s passion for creating career opportunities led the path to where it stands today.
Each chapter of our story has played a pivotal part in becoming one of the nation’s leading technical, engineering, administrative, IT, and skilled labor staffing providers. Talascend has an impressive track record of maintaining high ranking recruiting metrics, providing process efficiencies to improve delivery quality and speed, creating methods to reduce costs, and meeting client workforce development project timelines. Talascend consistently delivers seamless recruiting solutions to match the industry’s best talent with a portfolio of the most respected and sought after clients across the U.S.
Through various mergers and acquisitions, Talascend was branded in 2009 following the integration of three of the technical staffing industry’s best known industry specialists.
- Modern Engineering was founded in 1946 and has worked alongside the U.S. Automotive industry through its peak years, becoming synonymous with manufacturing contingent workforce management for engineers, designers and various levels of manufacturing personnel for automotive OEM’s and tier suppliers along with industrial manufacturing and supply chain logistic clients across the United States.
- EPCglobal was founded in 1986 by the Bechtel Corporation as a sole provider of contract workers to Bechtel projects. In 2001, Bechtel evolved its strategy for the unit, creating an independent commercial recruitment business. Over the subsequent years, the company built a strong client base providing contract workers and permanent staff to some of the industry’s best known employers. During that time its staff worked on projects in oil, gas, and chemical, energy, civil infrastructure, rail, and telecom in over 40 countries providing large scale human resources and senior specialists on hundreds of high profile engineering projects, matching thousands of people to engineering jobs.
- Quality Technical Services (QTS) was established in 1996 in Mobile, Alabama, providing expert staffing services to a range of large and small engineering companies serving process industries and aerospace manufacturing. QTS grew steadily over ten years, growing its teams and opening new offices as the organization gained greater respect within the U.S. industry as a key partner for project resourcing. QTS became a key part of Talascend’s integration strategy and the Talascend staff who began with QTS brought their reputation for knowledge and delivery to the new business, making it stronger and more capable.
To date, the Talascend organization has a staff of 100 experienced and tenured recruiting professionals, a contract community of nearly 1,000 employees working on-site at our partnering accounts, and a candidate community of 700,000+ engineering, technical and skilled trade professionals.
