Talascend is currently seeking a Senior Site Safety & Health Specialist for a contract opportunity located in Summerville, WV.


Description:
The Senior Site Safety & Health Specialist is responsible for leading and implementing project-specific safety policies and procedures, providing professional Safety & Health leadership to the project management team in a heavy construction environment. Candidate must have solar experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer Safety & Health programs on field construction projects to verify operations are executed as planned and conducted safely.
  • Manage the Site Safety & Health program deliverables as defined by the Corporate Safety & Health Department, addressing site-specific compliance concerns in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Local, State, and Federal OSHA regulations.
  • Oversee Safety & Health programs to achieve and maintain a zero-incident goal.
  • Conduct health and safety performance reviews, assessments, and documentation to verify compliance.
  • Manage and resolve work stoppage actions when immediate danger to life and health arises.
  • Report work stoppage issues to project management and collaborate on prevention strategies.
  • Provide consultation on   Safety & Health policies and best practices.
  • Assess site Safety & Health issues and implement corrective actions based on policies, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Coordinate with the client Safety & Health Department for collaboration on preventative measures and compliance.
  • Lead project safety walk-through assessments, document findings, and ensure timely corrections.
  • Compile safety memos, assisting Site Management in promoting safety awareness and goals.
  • Conduct, validate, and document training on Safety & Health topics.
  • Review and recommend countermeasures for near-miss incidents, property damage, and accident reports.
  • Provide recommendations to Corporate Safety & Health regarding program challenges, objectives, and progress.
  • Complete Daily Field Safety & Health Reports and maintain all required safety records in an audit-ready state.
  • Travel to various project site locations as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, ensuring compliance with all policies and standards.
Requirements:
  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or Construction Management with 7 years of experience in construction safety, general industry safety, or construction management. OR
    • Associate Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or Construction Management with 9 years of experience. OR
    • High School Diploma/GED with 11 years of experience.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA Construction and General Industry Regulations, ANSI, NIOSH, Army Corps of Engineers Manual 385-1, and NEC Standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Flexibility to work various schedules at the project site location.
  • Must meet company standards for vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour Construction Outreach Safety Training Course required.
