Talascend is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Supplier Quality Engineer for a contract opportunity located in Auburn Hills, MI. This individual will work cross-functionally with Engineering, Purchasing, and Suppliers to lead quality improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in supplier quality, data analytics, and project management, and be capable of driving long-term improvements in part quality, process auditing, and warranty reduction.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to drive part quality and delivery improvements.
  • Lead process audits and approve Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions.
  • Support quality improvements through warranty analysis and dealer performance insights.
  • Serve as a primary liaison with suppliers regarding part performance and quality.
  • Evaluate and approve Forever Requirements (FR) related to supplier-initiated changes.
  • Develop and enhance quality management systems to support process standardization and customer satisfaction.
  • Plan, schedule, and execute Process Audits for service-exclusive components.
  • Assess supplier quality and program risk; determine supplier eligibility and compliance.
  • Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective action using advanced problem-solving tools (Kepner-Tregoe, Shainin Red X, DOE, etc.).
  • Document and track discrepancies using GIM and support verification of permanent solutions.
  • Recommend, validate, and implement cost-effective corrective actions and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Develop inspection procedures aligned with Chrysler quality standards.
  • Review and provide feedback on Supplier PFMEA, Control Plans, and Operator Work Instructions.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • Previous experience in supplier quality engineering, automotive manufacturing, or quality systems.
  • Strong understanding of quality tools and methodologies, including PPAP, FMEA, APQP, and root cause analysis.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and project management skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and drive actionable insights across cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and quality management software/tools.
