Supplier Quality Representative
SUMMARY:
In this role, you will represent client as the supplier's project quality point of contact. You will perform quality surveillance and hands on inspections to verify that supplier equipment, material, documentation, and personnel activities conform to the requirements of procurement documents usually in a fabrication shop. You will work with supplier representatives to ensure requirements are understood and implemented.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- On a small sized project, represents client as the supplier’s prime contact with respect to supplier quality and performs quality surveillance activities defined by the assignment scope to verify that supplier furnished equipment and material conforms to the technical and quality requirements of the procurement documents
- Reviews the procurement document requirements with supplier representatives to ensure they are understood and implemented
- Monitors supplier personnel activities including witnessing of operations, inspections, examinations, or tests to verify procurement document requirements have been met
- Performs hands on inspections to verify by re-examination the efficacy of supplier inspection efforts and to provide assurance of the conformance of equipment or materials to procurement document requirements
- Reviews supplier generated quality verification documentation to verify conformance to procurement document requirements
- Rejects material found nonconforming and collaborates with the supplier and project supplier quality personnel to obtain a course of supplier action which facilitates satisfactory disposition of disclosed non-conformances
- Releases conforming material for shipment and notifies other Bechtel functional organizations to assist in coordination of their activities
- Evaluates supplier’s conformance to specified quality criteria on a specific assignment or group of assignments to provide input to recommendations for placement of future orders
- Conducts surveys or audits or surveys of suppliers, when assigned
- Participates as an audit team member or technical resource
- Minimum 6 year of relevant industry experience in inspection and testing activities
- For Mechanical roles – CWI and NDE
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Minimum 6+ year of relevant work experience
- Prior experience as SQR on EPC projects is a plus
- Prior experience in writing technical procedures and problem solving is a plus
- Experience with major commodities typically procured for Energy projects, recognized codes and standards, manufacturing methods
- Performs project Supplier Quality functions having some degree of complexity, e.g., preparation of detailed inspection plans for use on complete or uniquely designed systems; preparation of full scope man-hour and budget estimates for proposed intermediate-sized projects; review of complex technical specifications; or the establishment of project corrective action(s) to resolve non-conformances that have a significant impact on project cost/schedule
- Provides guidance to other Area Supplier Quality Specialists and non-technical support staff as assigned
