Mechanical Design Engineer - ADAS Sensing
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design robust module mounts which support repeatable and accurate performance of exterior/interior ADAS sensors
- Contribute with strong knowledge in designing kinematic mechanisms and shock and vibration stabilization structures.
- Design and execute comprehensive tolerance stack-up analyses at both component and system levels to ensure proper fit, function, and manufacturing feasibility of ADAS sensor assemblies
- Lead optical performance simulations using SPEOS software to validate ADAS sensor system performance across various environmental and operating conditions
- Drive and oversee thermal and structural simulations & Validation at the module level to ensure robust mechanical design and optimal sensor performance under diverse operating conditions
- Collaborate with cross-functional groups including exterior surface design, interior cabin design, design studio, structural simulation group, ADAS group and module suppliers to optimize packaging space and fulfilling both manufacturing serviceability requirements.
- Work with Tier 1 suppliers and understand mechanical system implementation.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors of Science (Masters preferred), Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software CATIA
- 3+ years of experience
- Experience with ASME GD&T, tolerance stack up, and detailed 2D drawings
- Plastic and injection molding experience
- Experience with CAE tools (for example ANSYS)
- Knowledge of Thermal , Shock, and Vibration testing
- Knowledge of rapid prototyping
- Expertise in ADAS mechanical component design preferred
- Track record of creative mechanical design that will fit within tight space preferred
- Knowledge of vehicle build and electrical harnessing preferred
