A Talascend client is seeking an Operations Training Instructor with prior Nuclear and training experience.  This is a fully remote role long-term contact role that offer benefits.

OVERVIEW: 


The Operations Training Instructor reports directly to the Operations Training Manager and focuses on developing operations training programs and materials for the Natrium Demonstration Project (NDP). This role involves creating the programs, processes, and procedures necessary to establish and manage licensed and non-licensed operator training. The successful candidate will collaborate with various departments, project partners, regulators, and external organizations involved in operator training.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Develops operator training processes, programs, and procedures for a newly established training department, ensuring compliance with company standards, NRC regulations, INPO accreditation criteria, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Executes a strategy for obtaining initial training program accreditation.
  • Uses the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) to develop high-quality training curricula for licensed and non-licensed operators.
  • Revises training programs to maintain instructional and technical accuracy based on plant design changes, procedural modifications, and process updates.
  • Actively participates in the Training Curriculum Review Committee.
  • Works with operations management, the emergency response organization, and other teams to develop and improve training programs.
  • Prepares trainee exams and evaluations for classroom, laboratory, on-the-job training (OJT), and simulator environments.
  • Establishes processes for training performance evaluations, trainee counseling, and individualized training programs.
  • Integrates lessons from INPO Significant Operating Experience Reports, NRC Circulars, Bulletins, Information Notices, plant design changes, and new regulations into training programs and materials.
  • Participates in NRC, INPO, and management audits and prepares responses to audit findings.
  • Maintains knowledge of plant design, operations, and related disciplines to develop high-quality training.
  • Oversees the collection and maintenance of auditable training records and reports.
  • Assists the Operations Training Manager in setting department goals and cost estimates for budgeted activities, including specific projects or subject matter areas.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Associate’s degree in science or engineering.
  • Four years of commercial nuclear power plant operator training experience.
  • Two years of experience as a simulator instructor.
  • Previous SRO/RO license holder or four or more years of experience with an SRO certification.
  • Expertise in analyzing, designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating licensed operator training programs.
  • Working knowledge of plant simulation software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to training excellence.
  • High integrity, open communication, and a collaborative mindset.
  • Understanding of how individual actions and decisions impact regulatory compliance and public perception.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in plant design, procedures, and schedules during the design, construction, and commissioning of a new nuclear power plant.
