Talascend is currently seeking a Software Asset Manager for a contract-to-direct opportunity with our client in Washington DC.  This role requires full-time, on-site at the Department of Justice (DOJ).  You must be a U.S. Citizen, eligible for Public Trust security clearance.

Overview
This on-site role supports the U.S. Department of Justice by overseeing software license tracking, entitlement management, and compliance. The position requires expertise in ServiceNow SAM Pro and involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to maintain an efficient and compliant software asset management program.


Responsibilities
  • Manage the full lifecycle of software assets, from acquisition through decommissioning
  • Track software entitlements and ensure compliance using ServiceNow SAM Pro
  • Maintain an approved software repository to support organizational standards
  • Reconcile software assets and entitlements across systems
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures and a knowledge base
  • Support audits and ensure adherence to vendor agreements and internal policies
  • Collaborate with procurement, legal, IT, and security teams on licensing strategy and planning
  • Analyze software usage trends to identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Create reports and dashboards in ServiceNow for audits and executive reviews
  • Assist deployment teams with license validation and governance
  • Train stakeholders on SAM policies and ServiceNow processes

Requirements
  • 3–5 years of experience in software asset or license management
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with ServiceNow SAM Pro
  • Strong understanding of various software licensing models
  • Familiarity with software discovery and license tracking tools
  • Experience maintaining software catalogs and entitlement records
  • Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills
  • Skilled in creating SOPs and internal documentation
  • Must work on-site in Washington, D.C. with no travel required
  • Preferred experience with federal procurement and ITIL-based processes
  • Advanced knowledge of ServiceNow SAM Pro and proficiency in Microsoft Excel desired
  • Active Public Trust clearance or ability to obtain one
