Mainframe-Sr. Systems Programmer z/OS
Due to the nature of this work, you must be a U.S. Citizen with a Public Trust Clearance (or willing to obtain one) to be eligible for consideration. This role allows 100% remote work, but candidates near Washington DC are preferred.
Overview:
This role requires a highly experienced z/OS Senior Systems Programmer to manage, customize, and maintain IBM z/OS operating systems and related software in a multi-LPAR, multi-site environment. The position also involves providing on-call support, system monitoring, and issue resolution.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, install, configure, and maintain IBM z/OS and associated subsystems.
- Manage and customize IBM and third-party software products on z/OS.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues using tools like BMC.
- Provide support to Helpdesk, Operations, and Applications teams.
- Participate in disaster recovery procedures.
- Create and maintain system policies and user documentation.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline.
- 9+ years of experience with IBM z/OS 2.2 or above.
- Proficiency with SMP/E, z/OSMF, and related installation tools.
- Experience with UNIX Systems Services under z/OS.
- Familiarity with hardware configuration tools (HCD, IODF).
- Strong communication and customer support skills.
- Ability to apply for and maintain a public trust clearance.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of z/OS Security product CA Topsecret.
- Familiarity with IBM products such as CICS and DB2.
