Rotating Machinery SME
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the design and manufacture of large nuclear fluid pumps.
- Provide technical oversight to partners and subcontractors developing mechanical system designs for the Natrium reactor.
- Coordinate and integrate analyses (thermal, seismic, structural, pipe stress, heat transfer) into plant design.
- Ensure proper application of design codes (ASME, ANS, ASTM, IEEE, NFPA, etc.).
- Provide technical guidance on nuclear and non-nuclear design standards.
- Interface with the design team to create and manage drawing packages of system designs, including but not limited to Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), 3D models, and system interface drawings.
- Maintain system requirements, specifications, and engineering design packages.
- Support schedule adherence for design activities and plant integration.
- Manage supplier projects, ensuring deliverables and technical reviews are completed.
- Generate design package for systems, sub-systems, and equipment designs including coordination of calculations, design reports, mechanical drawings, and engineering design specifications.
- Develop testing programs for plant system qualification as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
- B.S. in Mechanical or related discipline
- Supplier/contractor coordination and project management expertise.
- Strong background in high-temperature and multi-discipline integration (nuclear process systems, fluid systems, or component design a plus).
- Proficiency in fluid and structural analysis, tolerance analysis, and engineering drawings.
- Experience with ASME NQA-1 standards.
- Excellent technical writing, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage competing objectives and multidisciplinary tasks.
Must Haves:
- Experience with large vertical pump design and manufacture.
- Experience with full hardware lifecycle, from cradle to grave.
