Talascend is currently seeking a Senior Pipeline Engineer for a contract opportunity located in Houston, TX.
Position Summary
Senior Pipeline Engineer responsible for assigned activities within the Pipeline discipline in the Energy global business unit. Applies broad knowledge of engineering principles and practices to project engineering in the preparation of designs and deliverables. Makes decisions concerning problems within the discipline on the project. Represents the discipline on the project and with the client as directed to resolve technical questions.
Responsibilities
Performs pipeline engineering tasks, including, but not limited to pipeline related calculations, alignment sheet, route map, site specific and detail drawing development, and flow assurance support
Prepares specifications, data sheets, material requisitions and bid evaluations
Review vendor provided data, documentation, and drawings
Evaluates, selects, and applies standard pipeline engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications
Coordinates work and collaborates with other engineering disciplines
Provides technical assistance to other pipeline personnel and will interact with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues
Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project pipeline requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution
Ensures that engineering is carried out in accordance with Bechtel’s work processes and procedures, project specific procedures, and contractual requirements
Ensures that pipeline design meets industry best practice and complies with pertinent pipeline codes and standards, governing regulations, and industry practices
Prepares or assist in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports or bid proposals for pipeline
Prepares and/or assists in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs and staffing requirements for proposals, forecasts and change orders
Reviews and checks work of subordinate engineers
Supports the creation of a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction

- Project Overview
- You will be partnering with NW Infrastructure LP to support an estimate for the Prince Rupert Gas Transmission Project in British Columbia.
- Project scope includes
- Compressor station – A gas turbine powered compressor station.
- Pipeline – A 48” Ø pipeline.
- Receiving terminal – A pig receiver and two metering facilities.

- Qualifications and Skills
- Understanding of industry or regulatory codes and standards and design criteria pertinent to the pipeline discipline.
- Experience and knowledge of ASME, API, AWWA, ASTM and MSS codes/product specifications is essential. Specific knowledge of CSA Z662, ASME B31.4, ASME B31.8 and CFR is a must.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Possesses either a recognized degree in engineering from an accredited college or university (or international equivalent) and a minimum of 4 - 6 years of relevant experience
- Registered as a Professional Engineer in Texas or other state or country is preferred or a Professional Engineering-in -Training (EIT) license from a recognized licensing board.
