Talascend is currently seeking a Warehouse Supervisor for a contract opportunity in Ypsilanti, MI.

SUMMARY:

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing warehouse employees to ensure business objectives are met for assigned departments. This includes managing safety, quality, productivity, responsiveness, and other key areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Counsel and support hourly employees with any needs or concerns as required.
  • Address performance behaviors by recognizing positive actions and addressing areas of improvement.
  • Utilize the Quality Network problem-solving process to identify and address opportunities, while engaging the workforce for input and ideas.
  • Implement the Workplace Organization (WPO) process to optimize layouts and efficiency.
  • Ensure accurate payroll data by performing daily Timekeeping System (TKS) updates.
  • Document problem-solving activities using the A-3 reporting format and adhere to local A-3 guidelines.
  • Conduct daily meetings to communicate business performance and facilitate two-way discussions with employees.
  • Perform and document weekly safety observation tours of departments.
  • Plan and allocate daily workloads in advance.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to optimize shift performance.
  • Ensure compliance with National and Local contractual requirements.
  • Enforce shop rules and standards.
  • Perform daily SOP audit checks to maintain operational standards.
  • Pursue skill development through the Individual Development Plan (IDP) process.
  • Keep the General Supervisor Shop Committee informed about all pending activities.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Proficient in basic math and data analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of the technology relevant to the assigned area.
  • Knowledge of scheduling systems and other management tools.
  • Analytical ability to solve complex problems effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to motivate employees and encourage productivity.
  • Familiarity with quality control procedures and standards.

Education and Experience:
  • High school graduate with 1-2 years of technical or business school training.
  • Training in skilled trades or equivalent technical experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
