Talascend is currently seeking a Sr. Systems Administrator for a contract-to-direct opportunity with our client in Virginia. This role offers a hybrid work schedule; working 3 days/week at the client’s office in Lorton, VA. You must be a U.S. Citizen, eligible for Public Trust security clearance.

This role supports IT infrastructure and field communications systems for a mission-critical Department of Justice (DOJ) program. The position requires expert-level systems administration skills to manage and maintain networks, servers, and applications critical to field agents worldwide. Work is performed onsite three days per week with two days work-from-home.

Responsibilities:
- Apply and manage DISA STIGs using SCAP or OpenSCAP tools.
- Provide operations and maintenance support for mission-critical systems.
- Manage and maintain Dell PowerEdge servers, VMware environments, Windows Server, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems.
- Implement and manage BigFix patch deployment, ensuring minimal downtime and patch testing.
- Maintain Active Directory, including Certificate Services and authentication services.
- Manage Internet Information Services (IIS) and other web services.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex system and software issues.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation and configuration guidelines.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience or equivalent qualifications.
- Expertise in Windows Server, RHEL, Active Directory, patch management, and systems infrastructure design.
- Proficiency in VMware, Dell PowerEdge servers, IIS, BigFix, Apache, PHP, and MariaDB.
- Strong understanding of secure network architectures and configuration management processes.
- Experience troubleshooting operational issues and briefing senior management.
- U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a Government Public Trust security clearance.
Desired Qualifications:
- RHEL certification.
- Security engineering and business analysis experience.
- DOJ or government contracting experience.
