Information Security Engineer (FIPS)
Due to the nature of this work, you must be a U.S. Permanent resident or Citizen to be eligible for consideration. This role allows remote work, with up to 10% travel.
Overview
This role involves working on our client’s Accredited Testing and Evaluation (AT&E) team to support National Defense through IT security. The position focuses on secure communications and cryptographic validation in a hands-on lab environment, contributing to critical systems that ensure National Security.
Responsibilities
- Conduct testing and evaluation for FIPS 140 compliance.
- Apply knowledge of cryptographic algorithms, security standards, and protocols (e.g., SSH, IPsec, TLS).
- Build and manage testing environments, perform security assessments, and produce technical reports.
- Utilize programming languages such as C, C++, Python, or Java in development environments.
- Collaborate with industry experts to enhance product security and compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Certification as a CVP Certified Tester and knowledge of FIPS 140 requirements.
- Strong understanding of cryptographic encryption, key exchange, and hashing algorithms.
- Experience in security testing, including technical writing, debugging, and problem-solving.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with VHDL, Verilog, and debugging tools (GDB, WinDBG).
- Knowledge of OpenSSL, OpenPGP, and statistical entropy analysis.
- Familiarity with X.509 certificates, Active Directory, Linux, and network setup.
- Hands-on experience with tools like oscilloscopes and multimeters.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA).
