Overview
The Sr. Product Design Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and integration of front and rear fascia systems for a world-class vehicle. This role requires expertise in engineering design, system packaging, and manufacturing technologies to ensure high-quality, functional, and cost-efficient exterior systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving skills, technical excellence, and the ability to mentor junior engineers in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the packaging, engineering design, release, and launch of fascia systems.
- Develop innovative exterior components with a focus on quality, reliability, functionality, mass, and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including studio design and vehicle engineering, to optimize system integration.
- Utilize advanced engineering tools and methodologies to drive cutting-edge design solutions.
- Act as a mentor to junior engineers, providing technical guidance and support.
- Create complex CAD models and design schemes, preferably using CATIA V5 or V6.
- Develop fascia systems incorporating energy management components, plastic injection molding, and thermoplastic/thermoset resin materials.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and vehicle safety standards.
- Support vehicle launch activities, resolving engineering challenges as they arise.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering minimum, advanced degree is preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in vehicle fascia system design and development.
- Experience with full automotive product development cycles.
- Strong creative engineering skills with a talent for 3D problem-solving.
- Proven experience with fascia systems, Class A manufacturing technologies, and sensor integration.
- Hands-on knowledge of plastics design, structural integrity, gap and flush management, and paint matching.
- Understanding of computational tools used in engineering design and analysis.
- Excellent teamwork, interpersonal skills, and a strong work ethic.
