Talascend is currently seeking an Operating Engineer for a contract opportunity located in New Orleans, LA.
Rotating Shift times: 5:00 am - 2:00 pm CST and then 9:30 am - 6:00 pm the following week.
Rotating weekend shift includes 1 Saturday per month. 6:00 am - 12:00 pm (noon) OT.
Candidates must be licensed in the city of New Orleans.
OVERVIEW:
The Operating Engineer supports operation, inspection, and maintenance processes to mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment and systems in assigned facilities. Performs inspections and repairs to assigned property interior and exterior areas, including walls and flooring, installed fixtures, roofing systems, lighting, etc. This person will have the responsibility to provide written reports/logs to the Chief Engineer to assist in the reliable and efficient operation of base building and critical environment functions.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with the supervision and direction of contractors and monitor performance of their assigned responsibilities.
- Performs and/or directs the performance of assigned maintenance service requests, ensuring that work performed in these areas is accomplished efficiently with a minimum amount of disruption and inconvenience.
- Performs building and equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Assist the building team members in the maintenance and repair of building and equipment as needed.
- Maintain lighting system bulbs and ballasts.
- Minor HVAC, plumbing & electrical repairs.
- Performs predictive maintenance, preventative maintenance, maintenance routines and equipment round and service requests as directed.
- Respond and perform emergency repairs or preventative maintenance off hours as directed on nights and weekends.
- Performs all duties in a safe manner, comply with all safety procedures and maintaining clean and safe work areas in accordance with established work standards and practices.
- Recognize danger and safety hazards and propose methods to eliminate them.
- Participate in ongoing technical, safety, and operational process training programs.
- Participate in the annual Engineering Operations Compliance Program (OCP), working to achieve an agreed upon a passing score as determined by the General Manager.
- Documents work performance and materials procurement as directed, using work order system.
- Other assigned operational tasks as may be typically expected of the Operating Engineer role.
- Provide on-call response as required.
- A City of New Orleans 1st Class Stationary Engineer’s Certificate Air Conditioning is required.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Candidate must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
- Completion of an applicable technical training program is desirable, have a minimum of one (5) years of applicable working experience in general building repair and maintenance, basic plumbing, and basic electrical.
- Must have ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs., use ladders, possess mechanical and electrical aptitude, Windows based computers and have good communication skills in English, both oral and written.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools and other equipment required to complete job tasks.
- Tools and equipment are provided by the building owner.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Ability to comply with both Jones Lang LaSalle and client-directed Policies & Procedures.
- Successful candidate must be self-motivated who can work independently or on a team.
