Talascend is currently seeking a Production Supervisor for a contract opportunity in Kokomo, IN.

SUMMARY:

The Production Supervisor - Intermediate is responsible for managing small work teams in a fast-paced, high-volume, unionized manufacturing environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensuring the production plan is met by analyzing issues with other roles and driving continuous improvement initiatives to sustain solutions within the Zone.
  • Ensuring a safe workplace, leading the team in safety improvements, and enforcing the use of mandated safety tools and procedures.
  • Understanding losses during the shift and utilizing the C-Matrix to coordinate World Class Manufacturing activities, improving Zone performance.
  • Proactively analyzing quality KPIs related to the Zone, prioritizing quality issues, and guiding Team Leaders accordingly.
  • Allocating resources effectively on the production line, managing absenteeism, and training and developing teams.
  • Mobilizing support groups and resources to lead and assist in problem-solving activities.
  • Actively participating in and leading Kaizen projects focused on Safety, Cost, Quality, Throughput improvements, and waste reduction opportunities.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to work any shift and overtime as needed.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory and manufacturing experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all levels of employees, from hourly workers to senior leadership.
  • Ability to build effective business relationships with plant leadership and customers.
  • Goal-oriented self-starter with leadership abilities.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and develop team members.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driver’s license and availability to work any shift.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience in a high-volume environment.
  • Previous experience in a union environment.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement systems and lean manufacturing.
  • Proficiency with Google Suite software programs.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to work different shifts, weekends, and overtime.
  • Ability to work in hot and/or cold environments.
  • Work around heavy equipment or manufacturing machinery.
  • Wear safety equipment, including safety glasses, earplugs, and steel-toed shoes.
  • Stand or walk for long periods each day.
  • Frequently bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Work in tight or enclosed spaces.
  • Climb ladders, use man lifts, stairs, or crawl under vehicles if necessary.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
