A Talascend client is seeking an Electrical Engineer with maintenance experience for a direct hire role in the Mobile, AL area.

Electrical Engineer - Steelmaking Maintenance

Job Details 
The company is currently investing $775m to build a new Steelmaking facility to supply carbon steel slabs to its existing rolling mill assets. The ideal Electrical Engineer will provide strong technical knowledge and skills to assist maintenance and production personnel on the Steelmaking team in the implementation of equipment and system improvements. This team member will also coordinate with third party engineering companies to support the business goals of the company. 

The Basics:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 3 years’ minimum of heavy industrial manufacturing experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Electrical Engineering practices
  • Maintenance Knowledge of heavy industrial equipment
  • Technical knowledge of:
    • Design and programming of PLC and HMI based control systems
    • Design and start-up of AC drive systems
    • Electrical systems, drives (VFD/VSD), controls
    • Reviewing and Developing P&IDs
    • NEC and NFPA 70E                  
  • Knowledge of Predictive Maintenance techniques and analysis
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to interact with multiple stakeholders, work in small and large teams
  • Demonstrates strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to coordinate and execute multiple projects with minimal supervision
  • Builds partnerships and works collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives
  • Knows the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement

Preferred Qualifications (not required)
  • Experience using SAP preferred
  • Steel industry experience preferred
Job Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support and consultancy to the management structure in the electrical and automation disciplines (L0 and L1) disciplines
  • Coordinate Engineering activities to support maintenance areas in the implementation of System/Equipment modifications and/or improvements, including technical analysis, proposals and alternatives evaluation, cost estimates, diligence, factory testing and commissioning
  • Coordinate Third part Engineering contracting services from the scope definition phase, to the close out document phase, ensuring the non-interference of new deployments in existing processes, through participation and analysis in its developing phase
  • Maintain the company's technical documentation updated and available for consultation
  • Guarantee the technical support for the project management group, from the feasibility study phase to the coordination of the final acceptance tests, ensuring the technical quality, as well as ensuring the correct technical documentation after changes
  • Establish the minimum technical requirements necessary to purchase or modify equipment and/or systems by maintaining technical standards based on national, international or corporate standards, incorporating new technologies whenever necessary
  • Provide regular updates to internal customers
  • Ability to coordinate and execute multiple projects with minimal supervision
  • Prepare and present reports and findings by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Observe safety, review accident/incident reports and assist in investigations as required
  • Lead, support, participate in, and develop improvement programs and project groups
  • Support management in optimizing quality, cost, availability and performance of equipment
  • Coordinate and direct personnel as required

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Office and Industrial setting; Construction setting
  • Gulf coast region in Calvert, AL
  • Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads
