Talascend has partnered with a Tier 1 automotive supplier in Plymouth, MI. We are seeking a Motorsport Engine Build Technician to work on-site at their Powertrain facility for a luxury high-performance automotive manufacturer. (Benefits provided – Hours: 7:30 am – 4:00 pm).
OVERVIEW:
The Motorsport Engine Build Technician will work with a group of personnel (Technician and Engineers) to support powertrain system and vehicle testing operations as well as prototype manufacturing and assembly related projects.

The Motorsport Engine Build Technician will work with a group of personnel (Technician and Engineers) to support powertrain system and vehicle testing operations as well as prototype manufacturing and assembly related projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support prototype system build activities including low-volume system builds for Motorsports applications.
- Provide mechanical assembly and installation assistance to support engine, powertrain, and vehicle related engineering programs.
- Conduct build measurements, as required, to the specifications provided by the lead technician and / or engineers.
- Execute build and assembly plans for powertrain related components or systems.
- Utilize critical thinking skills to develop unique assembly solutions when design prints are incorrect or non-existent.
- Consult with and provide feedback to design, analysis, and development engineering teams on build and assembly related matters.
- Assist engineers with creating build documents (assembly manuals, BOMs, etc.) for internal or external customer projects.
- Fit parts to geometric design tolerances specified on prints supplied by engineering teams.
- Work with design engineers to check drawings for feasibility and manufacturability.
- Maintain a high level of workshop organization, throughput, and efficiency through continuous adherence to and development of workshop processes.
- Provide recommendations to supervisors and managers on parts or equipment that are needed to improve workshop capabilities and throughput.
- Communicate with customers and ensure maximum customer satisfaction with workshop related outputs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2+ years of prototype build experience in the automotive environment.
- Experience with Engine building in an automotive environment.
- Knowledge of powertrain build and assembly operations and best practices.
- Ability to “think outside the box” and develop creative and unique solutions based on prior skills and experience.
- Experience in and an understanding of a powertrain build and test environment.
