Talascend is seeking a Instructional Systems Designer for our Training Specialist position.

OVERVIEW:

Implements and operates training programs, practices and procedures for training personnel. Designs and administers training programs to train all levels of personnel. May be responsible for the development, testing, and maintenance of training curriculum to instruct customer personnel on the utilization of customer products or services. Responsible for creation of course content, training materials and documentation that may include educational technology such as Computer Base Training (CBT) or Web Base Training (WBT). May be responsible for conducting individualized or classroom training sessions. Keeps abreast of training and development research: learning theory, motivation theory, and new materials, methods, and techniques. Develops in-house programs and practices to identify developmental needs, including preparing personnel for more responsible positions and increasing effectiveness in present assignments. May evaluate and/or oversee contractors or vendors to develop and/or administer training programs. SCOPE:
Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet objectives. Work is reviewed and measured based on meeting objectives and schedules.

PROBLEM COMPLEXITY:
Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercises independent judgment within generally defined training policies, procedures and organizational goals in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

IMPACT:
Contributes to the development of organization's goals and objectives. Decisions or failure to achieve results may cause significant delays in schedules.

LIAISON:
Frequently interacts with outside customers and functional peer groups. Interaction normally requires the ability to gain cooperation of others conducting presentations of technical information concerning specific projects/schedules, etc.

FREEDOM TO ACT:
Works under limited direction. Normally receives no instruction on routine work, general instructions on new assignments. Supervises and provides guidance to other personnel.

LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT: KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND ABILITY: Involves comprehensive knowledge of this administrative field and the ability to complete difficult and complex assignments.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Required to be an academically trained Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) e.g. M.S.Ed. in Instructional Systems Design
  • Ability to translate technical and complex design information into user-friendly E-IDS Web Based Training (WBT) training material
  • Experience in Microsoft 365 Suite, Microsoft Visio or graphic editor, Articulate Storyline 360 or equivalent animated WBT
  • Demonstrated ability to review and provide editorial comments for content developed by other team members
  • Experience in one of the four FAA subject areas
    • Air Traffic
    • Technical Operations Support
    • Security and Data Administration
    • Second level Debug and Engineering Support
  • FAA experience with second level engineering preferred; want candidate to have some knowledge of that.
  • Proactive individual who can operate autonomously and is willing to express concerns or offer suggestions.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field and 6+ years progressive experience in field.
